3 Pet Friendly Upholstery Fabrics for Home Furniture
With winter in full swing, you may be starting to get a little cabin fever, especially if you have pets. Even if you walk your dog regularly in all kinds of weather, you’re still spending more time indoors now than you would in the middle of summer. That means your furniture, area rugs, floors, etc., are all getting more wear and tear than usual. In addition to “wearing and tearing”, your dog or cat is probably shedding too. That poses two big problems for you and your home furnishings. First, the upholstery on your furniture is taking a beating. Second, it seems like there’s pet hair everywhere – especially after you’ve just cleaned it up! The solution: start thinking about pet friendly upholstery fabrics.
Try These Pet Friendly Upholstery Fabrics
Some furniture upholstery fabrics can make life with your pet a little easier.
- Leather – We put this one first because it might be the last one you consider to be “pet friendly’, but hear us out. We’ve included leather here because of how easy it is to get pet hair off it. Of course, leather can also easily get scratched by pet claws. It can also get discolored if your pet has a favourite resting spot on the sofa. If you want to take advantage of leather’s easy-clean properties, you’ll need to be more adamant about trimming claws and not letting your pet feel too at home on the furniture.
- Microfibre – Microfibre has many benefits for pet owners. First, with its tight weave, pet hairs don’t become entangled in it. It’s also very tough and doesn’t easily rip or show wear.
- Canvas Slipcovers – You can use this one on any sofa upholstery. In addition to being durable and claw-resistant, if and when they get discoloured, simply take them off and wash them.
