Now’s a Great Time to Deep Declutter Your Living Room
It can cause stress and anxiety. It can make your living room seem untidy even after you’ve tidied up. And you probably don’t need much of it anyway. We’re talking about clutter and getting rid of it is probably the best way to update your living room’s décor for little or no cost. It’s time to declutter your living room.
Even better, if you’ve been spending lots of time at home because of COVID-19, decluttering is a great way to change things up and reduce your “stir craziness” factor.
But, you might clear up the books, mobile devices and remote controls and still not get full relief from clutter. That’s because there are probably lots of things in your living room that you don’t think of as clutter, but they can have the same effect as clutter.
3 Reasons Why You Need to Deep Declutter Your Living Room
Clutter stresses you out and looks untidy because it’s usually disorganized and “busy” looking. Here are a few things in your living room that might have the same characteristics, but you might not realize it.
- Too Many Throw Pillows – They seemed like a comfy idea at the time. But, if you went a little overboard during the throw pillow phase, they can make the neatest living room feel cluttered – and not even offer the same comfort and style you bought them for in the first place.
- A Big Comfy Couch – Yes, it’s comfy. Yes, it’s big. And, yes, it looked great in the furniture store because of the oodles of space around it. But, especially in smaller living rooms and family rooms, a too-big sofa can rob the décor of the breathing space needed between furniture pieces and accessories. Without that space and balance, the room can feel crowded and, yes, cluttered.
- Lots of Books or CDs – You love to read. You’re proud of your CD collection. But, unless you read or listen to them regularly (be honest!), they are a source of clutter. If you think you just can’t do without them, try removing one section. You may be amazed and the airiness it can add to a room.
