A Guide to Buying a Transitional Area Rugs
Transitional area rugs are one of the most recent home décor accessories to adopt the transitional style of furniture. If you’re familiar with traditional furniture, and modern or contemporary furniture, then you know where the transitional style comes from.
It blends elements of traditional and modern/contemporary styles to create a look that features clean lines, combined with curves and other elements, that offer more visual appeal.
Of course, the vast majority of area rugs are round or rectangular. So, unlike other transitional furniture, transitional area rugs generally don’t change shape. Instead, the transitional styling mainly comes from pattern designs and colours. Another hallmark of transitional rugs is the wide range of materials, textures and piles that are available.
Should You Buy a Transitional Area Rug?
That broad spectrum of designs, colours and materials means that you may find a transitional rug that’s perfect for an industrial-style interior design just as well as for a mid-century modern interior design. And that’s just the first reason why you should consider a transitional rug if you are redecorating your home.
Wide Variety of Options
If there is one ‘trend’ that is more prevalent than others in home décor recently, it is the mixing of styles. Homeowners seem less likely to redecorate using any one style, opting instead for a creative blend of different styles.
In a way, that current trend is a blend of all the furniture trends of the last century or more. The biggest problem has been to find a rug style that fits with the exact mix of styles a homeowner chooses. That is, until now. With enough shopping, you can find a colour and style of transitional area rug to complement almost any interior décor.
Enduring Style
Trends come and go. Traditional furniture has been around for hundreds of years. Mid-century modern was popular in the middle of the 1900s and is once again popular today. Industrial is one of the most recent styles. Transition area rugs are more likely to keep pace with changing trends than other rug styles.
Easy to Clean
This one is true for all area rugs. There’s something to be said for having the ability to easily steam clean your rug or send it out for a professional cleaning.
