Buying Furniture Soon is Smart if You’re Moving or Redecorating
If you like buying furniture, then buying furniture online is probably a poor substitute. There’s just no replacing the experience of visiting a furniture store and actually seeing, feeling and trying the furniture you like.
So you’ve probably been waiting for your favourite furniture stores to reopen more than most people. If they have reopened in your area, and you’re planning a move or to re-do your interior design in the near future, there are reasons why should start your furniture shopping as soon as you can.
Why You Need to Buy Your Furniture Sooner than Later
Now that we’re seeing the light at the end of the COVID tunnel, we’re all more than ready to get back to normal. Except, like a bad dream, the pandemic has lingering effects that will affect different parts of our lives into the foreseeable future.
And home furnishings are just one of those areas.
If you were furniture shopping earlier in the pandemic, you may not have been able to get a piece you wanted because factories had shut down, especially in harder-hit areas outside of Canada.
Those factories are now back up and running. But that’s not really good news. Many foreign furniture manufactures have flooded the market with inexpensive furniture. So much so, it’s hurting our Canadian furniture designers and makers. (Reports are that some foreign manufacturers are selling their products for lower prices here than the prices in their own countries).
To protect our local jobs and economy, the government has placed a tariff on furniture imported from some countries. But, until Canadian manufacturers catch up to fill the gap, furniture prices are going up substantially. And it may take some time to get the furniture you want.
What To Do if You are Buying Furniture
You need to really do your shopping and you need to do it as soon as possible.
Furniture stores with warehouse capacity will have stock that they received before the price increases. But increased demand means that stock will probably disappear soon.
Fortunately, as one of the largest furniture retailers in the GTA, with four locations in and around Toronto, Arrow Furniture’s warehouses and stores are all well-stocked with high-quality, reasonably priced furniture.
Our showrooms are once again open for business with safety protocols in place. Call or visit your nearest Arrow Furniture store to learn more.
