5 Easy Holiday Decorating Tips
Decorating your home or office for the holidays is always fun. In addition to the anticipation of the upcoming seasonal celebrations, you’ll probably have some new decorations, some old favourites and a few ideas for displaying everything a little differently this year.
Here are just a few of our favourite tips for your holiday decorating this year.
Work with What You Have
The dining table is the centre of lots of holiday meals, and a great place for decorating too. Choose ornaments that suit your table and/or dinner ware. For example, if your dinnerware pattern is blue, try using decorations that are blue and/or complementary to blue.
Bring in Some Nature
The pine cones and evergreen branches in your yard or in the local park are like free Christmas decorations. From painting them, to making wreaths or just placing them around the house just as they are, they instantly add holiday ambience.
Lots of Poinsettias
While you probably already brighten your home with some of these holiday favourites, don’t be afraid to find new ways and places to add even more this year. You an cover your coffee and end tables, fill up your unused fireplace, or line every window sill.
Accessorize Your Accessories
Sometimes you have more decorations than you know what to do with. Don’t forget to decorate curio cabinets, wall mirrors and credenzas.
There’s Nothing Like Candlelight
Every bit of holiday decorating you do will look better in the warm glow of candlelight. If yours are mainly white, think about using different colours of candles, like blue for that dining table, and different sizes and shapes to fit with all your other décor.
We hope you can use some of these ideas to decorate your home this year and that your decorating forms the backdrop for a happy and safe holiday season for you and your family.
