How To Use Area Rugs On Carpeted Floors
Area rugs can bring carpeted floors to life. Even though you might be skeptical since it will be carpet on carpet, there are many ways to make it work. And, choosing area rugs for carpeted floors isn’t much different than choosing them for hard surface floors.
So, here’s how you can use area rugs on carpeted floors.
Texture
One tip for layering carpet over carpet is to pay attention to the texture. In order for an area rug to compliment carpeted floors, it needs to be the right texture. You may choose to layer a thick shag rug over a looped carpet to add a sense of elegance. Or, you could put a nice fluffy carpet over a thin carpet to add some extra cushion.
Size
Make sure your area rug fits your room. You don’t want it to be too small, since it could look awkward. Make sure it fits underneath furniture and in open space so it is noticed and felt.
Colour
In most circumstances, you need to consider the colour of your area rug. If you have a white carpeted floor, then the colour or pattern of your area rug needs to match. It also needs to match any surrounding furniture. And even if your rug covers the entire floor, make sure it matches underneath. This way, everything in your home is cohesive and aesthetically pleasing.
Anchor It
Have you ever had a carpet that bunches every time you move furniture, even by accident? Well, anchoring your carpet makes sure it stays in place. This way you won’t have to worry about it bunching up or wrinkling. And, you do not want your area rug to be a tripping hazard for you or any guests in your home.
