3 of the Best Interior Design Trends for 2018

It’s a fun time of year for lots of reasons. For those of us in the furniture business, it’s when we get to see all the new designs and trends for 2018. But, as much fun as it is, it’s tough to visit every studio or even website to see all the new décor trends.

So we decided to do some of the legwork for you and check out some design trends for 2018 from a few different sources. This isn’t a prediction of what will be the bestsellers n 2018, but a selection of some of the trends we have spotted that we might have found inspirational, creative or just plain quirky. And none of them mean you have to completely redecorate (unless you want to!).

1. Lighting & Accessories

If there was anything we saw repeated more than any other, it was creative lighting designs and accessories to highlight and brighten the move to monotone design palettes. Think modern chandeliers, funky lampshades and red throw pillows (which will brighten just about any couch!).

2. Woodgrain

From flooring to wall panels and consoles, woodgrain is everywhere this year. Even reclaimed and distressed wood, like wooden palettes, are in high demand in home interiors.

3. More Colour all Around

If you want an example of what we mean here, paint manufacturer Benjamin Moore’s 2017 colour of the year was ‘Shadow’, a dark grey. It’s 2018 colour of the year is ‘Caliente’ a deep, rich red inspired by the cayenne peppers that are “muy caliente!”
