4 Ideas for a Home Décor Refresh
You’re stuck in the house. At first, it’s not so bad. You can get some cleaning done. Look through old photos. Get acquainted with each other again!
But sooner or later, no matter how many things you have to occupy your time, or how many walks you take, you’ll need a change of scenery.
If a complete redecoration or buying all new furniture is out of the question, there’s only one option left.
How to Refresh Your Home Décor
Refreshing your home décor means giving it a makeover without buying anything new. No new furniture, no painting, no new cabinets. It might not be the redecorating you always wanted to do, but it’ll cost way less and help break up the time.
- Declutter – This step takes the place of getting rid of your old stuff when you’re doing a full redecoration. You need to start with as clean a slate as possible. Extra stuff that you don’t use, want or need will get in the way of your décor refresh. And we’re not just talking about magazines and iPads. If you have too many knick-knacks on your occasional tables, or pictures on the wall, let’s give the refresh a fresh start.
- Redesign Your Furniture Layout – You probably have your furniture arranged in a way that works for you already. But is there another way that it could work? Can you put anything, like an extra chair, into storage to free up space? Is it possible to rearrange your furniture to create new spaces, like using your sofa as a divider for a reading nook?
- Design a Gallery Wall (or two) – Did you declutter lots of photos, art and/or wall hangings, but don’t want to get rid of them? Design a gallery wall and put them all together in one or more groupings.
- Nurture a Living Space – If you have houseplants, try rearranging them or moving them to different areas of your home. If you want more houseplants, but can’t go out to buy them, now’s a great time to experiment. You can grow new plants from many everyday house plants by dividing them, using stem cuttings or leaf cuttings.
